Football season? Sweater weather? Pumpkin spice? It must be fall! Ah, what a great time in the American education world. Leaves changing, homecoming games. In Kentucky, Keeneland is in full swing. These were the highlights of the year for us, which gets us a little homesick. But make no mistake, we're rocking it down here in Antigua and have been hard at work at our new school.
What has us really jazzed up is this coming summer! We're excited to announce that we've partnered up with Danna Thomas at Happy Teacher Revolution! Baltimore-based, Danna created HTR with the mission of supporting the mental health and wellness of teachers. We're putting together a wonderful program that takes us back to Aruba in June where Danna will be leading us in activities and training that incorporate her online certification course. Of course, we'll always get a healthy dose of beach and sunshine! (Just ask the STEAM Camp teachers from last summer) The focus on teacher wellness has never been so urgent in the history of education and we feel this is exactly what's needed. Look for the official announcement in the next month for all the details!
We're also excited to say that we just got the green light to organize a program at our school here in Antigua, Guatemala! The board of directors are thrilled about welcoming teachers from abroad. We're playing around with different ideas like tapping into the wealth of opportunities Guatemala has to offer: volcanoes, beaches, Mayan archaeology, cultural exchanges, ESL events, and even another STEAM camp with local students. But, of course, if you have an idea or would like to see something happen in any given curriculum area, please contact us!
We think 2019 is going to be a great year and we hope you come along with us for a great experience that will help you bring your classroom to the next level!
