Greetings everyone! As I put up on the home page, I've been super busy with exploring several projects that will change things for me (and for you) as well as this site. It's an idea that has been in the back of my mind for over a year. This will be the year that I will pivot Lessons From Travel into an adventurous, international, professional development opportunity for educators!
After all the travels and experiences my wife and I have had, it's time we use that and put together something that teachers can experience and help bring their classroom experience to another level. The problem I've seen and heard from colleagues in regards to teacher travel opportunities range from costs involved (the average tour package for teachers range from $2000-$4000), time, and inauthenticity. Companies like CIEE or EF Tours are very professional, but are costly. A lot of times the teacher has to round up 20 students to chaperone in order to get a free trip abroad. A lot of times the major organizations develop nothing more than a big bus tour while a guide shepherds the group from place to place, only getting a glimpse into a city or nation. It just ends up being too sterile of an experience.
That's where we want to kick in. In 2017, Lessons From Travel will offer a unique and fulfilling PD experience abroad. As of this post, I'm in talks with partnering with several schools and education groups to organize a great program. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but the plan is to have everything lined up within the next month. Stay tuned!!!
